Rafael Tinoco kipps
At the age of 19 Rafael Tinoco Kipps started his first business: a sports complex with 5 Football fields and two Volleyball courts that soon became 16 sports complexes dedicated to different sports, Gyms, Shopping Centers and Apartment Buildings in Central America. At the age of 27 he built his first “Stadium” to organize the CONCACAF FUTSAL QUALIFIER in 1996. After these success, the IV FIFA Futsal World Cup Guatemala 2000 was organized, along with the construction in record time of the famous “DOMO” on a bullring. Event was rated by FIFA a 5/5.
In 2007, he took the challenge of managing “Ad-honorem” UNCAF (Central American Football Union). He knew that things in sports could be changed if done correctly. This challenge led him to confront corruption on several occasions and through the 7 Central America countries. These battles and well organized events became his greatest strength and contributed to his unanimous 3 times re-election as UNCAF President.
He was invited by FIFA to work as “General Coordinator” in the last 5 FIFA World Cups and 2 Olympic games, as well as 10 other FIFA events, 3 CONCACAF Gold Cups and 7 Central American Cups including the 2014 edition where all the 7 Central America countries played across the USA.
His motivation lies in building efficient sports venues, organizing events in a professional manner, coordinating good teams and using sport as an opportunity for changing the lives of people with limited resources. He has demonstrated for 31 years that in sports it is possible to work in with integrity and he will continue on doing so with SPO.
